The Caterpillar Classroom – Lead teacher is Jen Mason
Welcome to the Caterpillar Room! We are looking forward to caring for your infant as we watch them grow and learn.
Before your infant attends Little Panther, please take time to write down some information about what your infant’s typical day looks like. Information such as when and how much they eat, little things that might help them sleep, and activities that make them smile helps the teachers care for your infant in the beginning weeks of their enrollment.
Each day you will fill out a sheet that says when your infant last ate, diaper changed and when they slept. This helps us know when your infant will need to eat and get an idea of what he/she may need next. The remainder of the form will be filled out as the day goes on showing information such as feedings, diaper changes, and naps.
Just a few things…
Staff/Child Ratios ~ Staff to child ratio in the Caterpillar room is 1:4. This is maintained at all times during the day.
Sleep Safety ~ To help reduce the risk of SIDS the center does not allow blankets in the cribs. We do have a couple sleep sacks here at the center but if you would like to bring one in for your infant to nap, we will keep it here and launder as needed. Infants are always placed on their backs to sleep.
No Shoe Policy ~ In an effort to keep all children healthy, we ask that you please remove your shoes at the door or ask a staff person to take your infant. This helps in keeping the floor, which the little ones crawl, clean.
Baby Foods ~ When your infant is ready to start cereal and other foods, please have him/her try new foods at home first. This way we can be sure your infant will not have an allergic reaction to what we are feeding them. As your infant begins eating new foods, let us know what he/she is eating and we will then serve those foods.
Formula ~ Little Panther offers generic Advantage brand iron fortified formula. If you prefer another formula, you will need to provide it. Also, if your infant requires a special type of formula (ie: soy) you will need to provide it.
Siblings ~ If your infant has a sibling, please have them go to their room first or have them wait outside the infant room. This is for the safety of all the infants in the room.
