The Panda Classroom ~ Lead teacher is Anna Duis
Welcome to the Panda room! The average age in this room is 2 years old. This is such an exciting time for your little one as they are learning so many new things and really working on being more independent! If your Panda has been enrolled at Little Panther, we will have transitioned him/her before they “move up” to the Panda room. This helps your child adjust to their new surroundings, routine, and children/teachers in the room.
In the Panda room, the routines are a little more structured than the Cubs room. There is a daily schedule posted outside the classroom on the parent bulletin board. Activities throughout the day include: group time (stories and songs), art, outside time (large motor), and center play.
As in the Caterpillar and Cubs rooms, a daily sheet will be filled out with information about your child’s day including: what your child was served for breakfast, lunch and snacks, diaper changes or potty training info, nap times and other pertinent information.
Just a few things…
Staff/child Ratios – Staff to child ratio in the Panda room is dependent on the youngest child in the room. The ratio for a child under two years of age is 1:4 and for a two year old is 1:6. There will never be more than 4 children under two years old in the Panda room, so with two teachers there can be 10 children.
Nap Time – Your child will nap daily from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Please send a small blanket to leave here at the center for your child. We will wash weekly or as needed.
Potty Training – Potty training can take place as early as 18 months old but is usually successful during the ages of two to three. When your child is ready, we will help you accomplish this milestone. It is important that Little Panther staff and families are on the same page during this time to make this transition as easy as possible.
Meals – If your child is here during our meal times, they will recieve breakfast (if here before 7:30 a.m.), morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack. As in the Cubs room, the kiddos under two will not be served peanut butter. Before each meal, the kids at Little Panther say “the Wish”. It goes like this… “We wish for peace, food and happiness for all the children of the world. Now we may begin.” So, if you hear your toddler trying to say something before they eat at home, they may be trying to say “the wish”.
Pacifiers ~ If your child uses a pacifier, we will work on weaning them from using it. By the age of two, we ask they no longer use one at the center.
